Moving around or staying with friends?
If you don't have a steady place to sleep — even staying with a friend, in a motel, or moving between relatives — you have extra rights under the McKinney-Vento Act.
- 1.You can stay at your school of origin even if you move out of zone.
- 2.The county must provide transportation to that school — for free.
- 3.Immediate enrollment — no proof of address, immunization records, or birth certificate required up front.
Confidential. No one at school has to know.
